On Sunday, August 9th from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at The Hotel Chesterfield in Stamford, CT, MINI will be celebrating its 50th Birthday.  Since the first classic MINI debuted on August 26, 1959, the car has represented a unique and exciting alternative to everyday transportation.  Sir Alec Issigonis, the original designer of the Mini set out to create a small, economical car that could transport four adults in a spirited fashion.  The run of the classic MINI lasted over forty years.  History has proven the formula Issigonis envisioned for his car to be one of the most successful automotive concepts ever introduced.

The new MINI debuted in the United States in 2002, continuing a four decade tradition.  It is still unique with the same defining signature look.  Since MINI's U.S. debut, sales have increased every year.  New models continue to be introduced, such as the Cooper Clubman, and the Cooper Convertible, and a new all wheel drive will be introduced in the near future.

There will be an entrance fee for the MINI Birthday Celebration: $10 for individuals and $20 for families. Food and Beverages will be served. The entrance fee will include one Door Raffle Ticket. ALL proceeds will support the Boys & Girls Club of Stamford. MINI of Fairfield County will facilitate games for the kids and a MINI Car Show.  The 1st 80 MINI Cooper’s to arrive will be entered into the show. The MINI Car Show Contest will be judged by the MINI Cooper Team and winners will be awarded first, second and third prizes.

Grand Prize Raffle Tickets are being sold now to WIN a 2-Year MINI Cooper Lease. Tickets are being sold for $25 each. The drawing for the Grand Prize will be held at 3 PM the day of the event. All other Door Raffle Tickets will be sold for $5 and (3) for $10.  Door Prizes are valued between $500 and $1000.  Door Raffle Prizes include: a MINI Basket, California Wine Basket to include Venue Space for 20 at The Hotel Chesterfield, a Shippan Surf & Skate Basket, an Entertainment Basket to include one-night at the Hotel Chesterfield, Golf for 4 at the Innis Arden Golf Club and a Ride for Two in a Hot Air Balloon. All proceeds of the raffle ticket sales will be donated to the Boys & Girls Club of Stamford, CT.

The Boys & Girls Club of Stamford serves close to 1,500 youth per year and 200–300 youths a day.  Every day children are transported to the Club from Stamford Public & Private Schools. 57% of our youths come from a single Parent Households. The Boys & Girls Club of Stamford offers over 40 Different Programs. The Boys & Girls Clubs are community-based organizations that provide young people with a fun, safe and constructive environment when they are not at home or school. Clubs offer programs and services designed to build character and strengthen life skills. The Boys & Girls clubs are open to all youth ages 6– 18 and have a special focus on children and teens from challenging or disadvantaged circumstances. Clubs reach out to children in need, giving them support, guidance and hope for the future. Clubs also keep dues low and do not turn kids away because of an inability to pay. Clubs are in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Many Clubs are actual physical buildings designed especially for kids with their needs and interests in mind. Other Clubs are located in a variety of settings– including public housing, U.S. military bases around the world, schools and Native American lands– to provide as many youth as possible with carefully designed Club programming tailored to local needs. The B&G’s Clubs are neighborhood-centered clubs providing programming in specialized areas, including character development, educational enhancement and career exploration. Clubs are staffed by paid, trained youth development professionals. Through a system of informal guidance, Club staff form strong bonds with young people and help them make smart choices in life. For many Club members, Club staff are the most influential positive adult role models in their lives. The Boys & Girls Clubs are truly “The Positive Place for Kids.”

The Salt Water Grill will offer Half-Priced Drinks from 4- 6 PM to all MINI Cooper Owners. The Saltwater Grille is a ‘New American Bistro’ that reflects the new trend in American dining culture.  This visionary restaurant is a year round waterfront dining destination, serving lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch as well as private dining from intimate business dinners to rehearsal dinners.
