Dance Instruction is a rewarding experience. While you are learning through our easy system of teaching you will also experience the benefits of fun and fitness that social dancing offers. You will not only learn to dance, but burn some calories, give yourself a mild aerobic workout and make a new circle of friends.
Directors
Steven Dougherty has been in the dance industry professionally since 1992. He has been a guest teacher at the Juilliard School, NYU, Cornell, and SUNY Binghamtion. As a professional competitor Steven has won numerous regional titles and was the U.S. National Rising Star Smooth Champion in 2000 and is currently a U.S. & World finalist. Steven has also made dance appearances on several television soap operas and has performed on stage at various venues including Carnegie Hall. Steven’s choreography credits include musical variety shows for the Berkshire Theater Festival, “Romeo & Juliet” for the Juilliard School and the musical “Ballroom” for the Elmwood Playhouse in Nyack, New York.
John DePalma has been in the dance studio industry since 1975, having successfully worked in all phases of the dance studio business. John also developed an alternate career as Master of Ceremonies and currently officiates at every major Dancesport competition in the United States and has been featured on the televised PBS Program “Championship Ballroom Dancing” and the Good Life Television Series “Championship Dancesport”. Known throughout the industry as the “Voice of Ballroom Dancing in America”, John is now co-organizer of Capital Dancesport Championships in Washington, D.C., with his wife and well-known coach and adjudicator, Marianne Nicole.
Teachers
Eulia Baranovsky was born in Minsk in the Republic of Belarus and came to the United States in 1989. She began her training at the age of five with ice dancing followed by jazz and modern dance. She has studied ballet for the past 13 years and added competitive ballroom dancing to her repertoire 7 years ago. Following a successful career as a professional International Standard Ballroom dancer she partnered with Steven Dougherty to compete in the American Smooth Ballroom division. Currently they are ranked in the top six in the country.
Christian Lange began dancing in Germany and was an amateur Latin and Standard Champion. Christian came to the U.S. 3 years ago and continued his dance career as a professional. Christian is a certified instructor in both the Latin and Ballroom styles and currently competes in the American Style Smooth.
